The
Vic is pleased to present the regional premiere of The
Holdup by Pulitzer Prize-winner, Marsha Norman. ('night,
Mother, Getting Out, The Secret Garden & most recently,
The Color Purple) In 1914 near a remote shack on
the New Mexican high-plains, two young brothers, innocent
Archie (Matt Zambrano) and hot-headed rancher, Henry (Jude
Moran) accidentally meet up with an aging gunfighter, ‘The
Outlaw’ (Dan Mundell) who has just shot his injured
horse. They are joined by Lily (Stephanie Jones), a former
dance-hall girl and former flame to The Outlaw. Each it
turns out has a proposition for the wily survivor of the
Hole-in-the-Wall era. What is the Myth of the West collides
with the reality of the West in Marsha Norman's picaresque
tale. These four souls are all at the end of their individual
roads but in one starry night four endings become three
beginnings and by dawn's early light the changing of The
West is there for the taking. |
