An
Evening With
Edgar Allan Poe
directed
by Maggie Stillman
produced by Hunger
Artists Ensemble Theatre
There is no better way to spend Halloween than with a scary
story, and Edgar Allan Poe is the original master of the
genre. Due to tremendous audience demand, we've moved our
annual holiday favorite to a larger venue, the beautiful
(and haunted?) Denver Victorian Playhouse.
We have new stories and an exceptional cast this year, and
of course we'll be performing Poe's most famous classics
including The Raven, The Masque of the Red Death, The
Tell-Tale Heart and many others. Make reservations
early, this show sells out early and we're sure you won't
want to miss An Evening With Edgar Allan Poe.
A reader's theatre production.
"No
ordinary stage performance is this...a theatrical
reading that is one part production, one part recital
and all parts black pageantry...presented with a force
that is as chilling as it is powerful. (director Maggie
Stillman's) troupe executes a commanding and near
faultless performance...a treat as trick as your first
Jack-o-lantern."

Reader's
Theatre is performance art where our professional actors
both read and perform. Like storytelling, Reader's Theatre
creates images by suggestion that could never be realistically
portrayed on stage. It is "theatre of the mind",
freeing both the performers and the audience from the physical
limitations of conventional theater and creating a unique
and unforgettable experience.
